Duwamish Substation Site, 9600 W Marginal Pl South, Tukwila, WA 98168

Owner: Seattle City Light

The Duwamish Substation is one of many stations distributing energy to homes around the greater Seattle area. The area surrounding the substation is critical riparian habitat for the Duwamish River and is important for a variety of animals inhabiting both the land and water. One species of importance are salmon. Salmon use the area to slowly transition between freshwater and saltwater. For this reason, it is important for the surrounding riparian zone to have the capability to buffer run-off from roads, industry, and pollution. By removing invasive species and planting natives, we will be providing a more critical habitat for salmon and the many other animals that live in the area. Please join us to help restore this habitat.
